Finding Your Way Around
Learn how to navigate the fellos interface — the sidebar, top navigation, and mobile menu.
fellos is organized around a clean, consistent layout. Once you know where things are, getting around is second nature. The interface has three main navigational elements: the sidebar on the left, the top navigation bar, and (on mobile devices) the hamburger menu.
The Sidebar
The sidebar is your primary navigation tool in fellos. It sits on the left side of the screen and gives you one-click access to every major section of the app. Here is what each item does:
- Feed — Your home screen. A personalized stream of posts, announcements, birthdays, milestones, and other activity from across your organization.
- Groups — Discussion groups where conversations happen. If there are unread posts, you will see a red badge with the count next to the label.
- Events — Your organization's calendar. Browse upcoming events, RSVP, and create new events if you have permission.
- Organization — Shows your club's name and structure. View chapters, regions, officers, and member counts.
- Members — A searchable directory of everyone in your organization.
Below the main navigation items, the sidebar has two collapsible sections:
Workflows
The Workflows section groups together administrative request pages. Depending on your role and permissions, you may see some or all of these:
- Member Requests — Submit or review new membership applications.
- Type Changes — Request a change in member type (for example, from associate to full member).
- Deactivations — Submit or view member deactivation requests.
- Transfers — Request a transfer between chapters or regions.
- Attachments — Upload or view documents attached to requests.
Settings
The Settings section lets you manage your personal account:
- Profile — Edit your name, contact information, profile photo, and other personal details.
- Password — Change your login password.
- Group Signature — Set up a custom signature that appears at the bottom of your discussion group posts.
- Notifications — Control how and when you receive notifications (email, push, or in-app).
The active page is always highlighted in the sidebar with a terracotta accent bar on the left edge. This makes it easy to see where you are at a glance.
Top Navigation Bar
The dark bar at the very top of the screen is the top navigation bar. It is always visible, no matter which page you are on. Here is what you will find there:
- Organization logo and name — Displayed on the left side. Clicking it usually takes you back to the main page of your organization's external site.
- Navigation links — Links like Home, About, and Resources that your admin has configured. These typically point to pages on your organization's public-facing website.
- Notification bell — Shows a dot or count when you have unread notifications. Click it to see recent notifications in a dropdown.
- Your profile avatar — Your initials or profile photo in the top-right corner. Click it to access quick links to your profile and sign-out option.
The top navigation links (Home, About, Resources, etc.) are configured by your organization's administrator. They may be different for your organization, or your admin may have customized them entirely.
Mobile Menu
On phones and smaller tablets, the sidebar is hidden to save screen space. Instead, you will see a hamburger menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner of the header.
- Tap the hamburger button (☰) to slide the sidebar out from the left edge of the screen.
- A dark overlay appears behind the sidebar so you can focus on navigation.
- Tap any sidebar link to navigate to that page. The sidebar will close automatically.
- To close the sidebar without navigating, tap the dark overlay area or tap the hamburger button again.
Quick Navigation Tips
A few things that make navigating fellos faster:
🏠 Click the Logo
Click the organization logo in the top nav to go back to your organization's main website at any time.
🔔 Check Notifications
The bell icon in the top bar shows you when something new has happened without needing to browse each section manually.
🔍 Use Search
The search bar at the top of the docs lets you quickly find what you are looking for without scrolling through sections.
📱 Add to Home Screen
On your phone, add fellos to your home screen for instant access. It works like a native app with no install required.
The specific sidebar items you see depend on your member type and permissions. If you do not see a particular section (like Workflows), your admin may not have enabled it for your role. Contact your organization's administrator if you think you should have access to something you cannot see.
