Your Activity Feed
The feed is your home screen — a personalized stream of everything happening in your organization.
When you log in to fellos, the first thing you see is your activity feed. It is a reverse-chronological stream of updates from across your organization, bringing together posts, milestones, announcements, and more into a single, easy-to-scan view. Think of it as your organization's front page.
What Appears in Your Feed
Your feed pulls together many different types of activity. Here is what you can expect to see:
- Group posts — New posts from discussion groups you have access to, including the title, author, and a preview of the content.
- New member announcements — When someone new joins your organization, a welcome card appears in the feed.
- Member type changes — When a member transitions from one type to another (for example, from Seedling to Gardener), the feed announces it.
- Officer role changes — New officer appointments and role changes are shared with the community.
- Member deactivations and reinstatements — The feed notes when members leave or return to active status.
- Member transfers — When someone transfers to a different chapter or region.
- Birthdays — Birthday celebrations for members, so the community can wish them well.
- Membership anniversaries — Milestones marking how long a member has been part of the organization.
- Chapter anniversaries — Celebrations of when chapters were chartered or founded.
- Event announcements and reminders — Upcoming events and reminders for events you have RSVP'd to.
Reacting to Posts
Reactions are a quick way to engage with feed content without writing a full comment. To react to any feed item:
- Hover over (or tap on mobile) a feed item to reveal the reaction icon.
- Click the reaction icon to see the available emoji reactions.
- Select an emoji to add your reaction. Your reaction will appear alongside others on that item.
- Click an existing reaction pill to add your vote to it, or click it again to remove your reaction.
Each reaction pill shows the emoji and the count of people who have reacted with it. You can click on the count to see exactly who reacted.
Commenting
Some feed items — particularly group posts — allow inline comments directly from the feed. You will see a comment count (like "💬 3 comments") beneath these items.
- Quick comment — Click the comment icon or count to expand the comment area right in the feed. Type your comment and press Enter or click Send.
- Full thread view — Click "View full post" to open the complete discussion thread. This is better for longer conversations where you want to read all the context.
Group posts in the feed show a preview of the content. If a post is long, click "View full post" to read the entire thing in the groups section, where you will also see all comments in the thread.
Refreshing Your Feed
Your feed does not update automatically in real time. Here is how to see the latest content:
- Pull to refresh — On mobile, pull down from the top of the feed to trigger a refresh.
- Refresh button — Click the circular refresh icon (↻) at the top-right of the feed area.
- Infinite scroll — As you scroll down, older items load automatically. There is no pagination — just keep scrolling to go further back in time.
Unread Indicators
The feed uses visual cues to help you spot new content:
- Terracotta left border — New items you have not yet seen are highlighted with a terracotta accent bar on the left edge of the card.
- Auto-marking — Items are automatically marked as read when they scroll into view. You do not need to click on them individually.
- New content banner — When new items arrive while you are viewing the feed, a banner may appear at the top saying "New activity" that you can click to jump to the latest content.
The feed only shows content from groups and areas you have access to. If your admin has restricted certain groups to specific member types, you will only see posts from groups available to your member type.
Understanding Feed Item Types
